  witnesses are supposed to be the "most honest people in the world".

  most jws i know of do not put business deals in writing.

  they simply "trust their brother".

  The only time I have gotten screwed is when I allow myself to get screwed.

  If I allow it just about anybody would screw me.

  Thats human nature.

  In my younger JW days. I allowed myself to get screwed by many JW's

  They usually screwed with my brain.

  Cofty, I just ordered Fisk "Great War for Civilization"

  from Amazon. Your description of it being compelling and

  then Amazons many favorable reviews inspired me.

  It seems like it might take a year to read. 1283 pages.

  I have more books than I have liftime left to read.

  I have been out of the tower since 83.

  Jehovah is what I call my higher power, other times I call him Jesus, other times the supreme

  power of the universe.

  I have learned a long time ago to have an attitude of grattitude.

  So I thank my higher power for Good Orderly Direction.

  And I love him for it.

  both reopened mind and i are now in our early 60's and it seems our conversations lately have been on putting everything up for sale and buying a rv and travel until we can't anymore.

  it has been a dream of ours for along time to see all the site's in the u.s. and canada.

  we feel we could make money as we go by selling and teaching using herbs and gardening.

  I know what you mean about gas GrreatTeacher. My idea would be only 1/2 day to 1 day of driving then set for about 1 to 2 weeks before going to your next stop. Also I am thinking about buying a used RV no more than 10 years old and redoing it inside and out. That way I feel I would have no more than about $25,000 to $30,000 in it. There is no way I could afford a $150,000 RV and then loose half it's vaule as soon as you drive it off the lot. This is the only way it could work for us. Still Totally ADD

  That's good driving 1/2 day to a day then stopping for a week or 2.

  Where will you stop?

  Staying in a park could be expensive 50 or more a day.

  Wall mart doesnt allow RV's here in Florida.

  I hope you can figure out how to do this. I might follow or copy you.

  Cool post.

  I am also in my early 60's 62 in November.

  I could ask the same question. But I either don't have the courage, or the ambition.

  It does sound cool though.

  And as far as I can tell we only live once, at least in this dimension here on earth.

  Good advice requires more information.

  Do you own a house outright?

  What is your monthly cost of living?

  A Rv could cost as much or more than a house and property.

  And to drive a RV down the road could cost your whole social security check each month.

  They probably get 4 or 5 miles per gallon. You might want to check out the MPG.

  I had a Chevy van 10 in 1974 that was brand new and only got 6mpg.

  That was a 6 cylander small van.

  Before I retired I added up all my expenses for the year and month.

  And compared them to my monthy income.

  As long as your income is higher than your expenses, you should be good.

  I had to research and scroll around to confirm that it was satire.

  It accuratley portrayed some JW's and JW family I know.

  I just couldn't believe the Tower would be so honest.

  jws look down on others for saying, "bless you" if someone sneezes.

  it has something to do with the demons.

  another example is that it is considered satanic if a man took his hat off for a lady!

  Designs. I think I threw out my Blue Oyster Cult album collection 3 times before

  I finally left the tower.

  I would throw it out. Buy it back. Throw it out buy it back.

  Blue Oyster Cult is my favorite living existing group.

  Buc Dharma lives down the road from me here in Florida.

  Giving "Jehovahs spirit" credit for mundane, everyday things!

  i am hearing this more and more and it is like nails on a chalkboard.

  i hear it from the wt, from elders, from my parents and from jws in general.

  this had to be jehovahs spirit!

  I am hearing this more and more and it is like nails on a chalkboard. I hear it from the WT, from elders, from my parents and from JWs in general.

  This HAD TO BE JEHOVAHS SPIRIT! It must be Jehovah that I got this job! It must be Jehovah that I made my rent this month etc.

  I hear comments that without "Jehovahs spirit" things like the preaching work could not happen, building a KH could not happen, or jw.org could not exist!

  WTF?? A Kigdom hall is a run of the mill, simple basic structure. Why does it require the holy spirit to build when a skyscraper or the international space station does not? Why didnt something like lets say.. Maccu Piccu need the holy spirit to build?

  Also I have heard that JW.org is PROOF of Jehovahs blessing! I mean come ON. A run of the mill website is proof of God being behind it? What is behind BBC.com or Foxnews.com? Those sites are even more slick than JW.org! Did they need supernatural help as well?

  What are some things you have heard JWs attribute to Jehovah that are just crazy?

  In my experience this is not just a JW phenonoma.

  It is a Christian, positive thinking way of processing lifes events.

  It is having a positive attitued toward life.

  I have been out of the Tower since 83 and spent 10 years in law enforcement.

  Every day in muster law officers would pray before hitting their post.

  And Americans of all persuasions would thank God for all the good and bad in their lives.

  If you get good, you thank God for it.

  If you get bad, you ask God for strength and courage to surmount your obstacles.

  Thats, life.

  No matter what religion or lack of.

  It is just one way that a lot of people deal with and process life.

  What prophecys made you belive the Bible?

  i now believe the bible is a book of history and myths.

  the org and others still point to certain prophecys that lead them to believe, that god must have been involved.

  how can we explain some of these?
